At the heart of the blend is Kenyan purple tea, an unusual variety naturally rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols. These naturally occurring antioxidant compounds give purple tea its distinctive pigmentation and antioxidant profile, with higher levels of antioxidants reported than in conventional green tea.
Its flavour is remarkably smooth, sitting closer to a light black tea than a typical green tea. This makes it an ideal foundation for the two contrasting ingredients that give Arctic Fire its name.
We blend the purple tea with real pieces of ginger root and lemon peel – no need for overpowering flavourings when the ingredients themselves provide so much character. Ginger brings a deep, warming spice that gradually builds in the cup, while lemon peel cuts through with a clean, zesty freshness.
